Twitter has been asking users for the past month to get feedback on how they feel about a broader set of emoji-style reactions, similar to what you’d have on Facebook.
“We’re exploring additional ways for people to express themselves in conversations happening on Twitter,” a Twitter spokesperson said of the survey.
Aside from the emojis, Twitter is also testing user interest in a Reddit style up and downvote option, which could decide on how a tweet would be distributed and engaged with.
Reddit uses up and downvotes to moderate the messages of its users. This ensures that the best content goes on top of the feed, while the least posts go to the bottom.
Twitter could do the same, which could see hurtful, negative, or abusive tweets buried, while popular tweets get more exposure.
